Description
Over half of LGBT+ people are hiding their true self in the Czech workspace. They are afraid of reactions from their colleagues or that their coming out may cost them a job promotion. However imaginary these reasons may sound, they are based on the environment that the LGBT+ people are working in. An increasing number of companies working in the Czech Republic have decided to change this trend and work on creating a welcoming and open working environment where everyone can be themselves.
The food and beverage, FMCG and hospitality industry is leading these advances worldwide. Also, in the Czech Republic, we witnessed a gradual shift in this industry, with a growing number of companies joining Pride Business Forum.
The goal of the Symposium is to open the conversation about the position of LGBT+ employees and clients in the food and beverage, FMCG and hospitality industry and what companies can do to improve their situation. The symposium will bring practical tools to start with LGBT+ equality.
The event is FREE ENTRANCE and in English.
According to scientific estimates, there are up to one million LGBT+ people in our society. The situation in the Czech workplace is not ideal – more than 50% of LGBT+ people in the Czech workplace always or very often hide their different orientation or gender identity.
11% of LGBT+ people felt discriminated against in the workplace in the last five years.
49% of young people go “back in the closet” in their first job (they choose to hide their different orientation or gender identity, although they did not do it before).
